One of the ‘official’ novelties of the last week held FloraHolland Trade Fair in Naaldwijk (Netherlands) is Tillandsia oerstediana. This tillandsia originates from the tropical cloud forests of Costa Rica. Two Dutch bromeliad specialists, Stofbergen Plant Company, and Corn. Back, join forces to market special plants, including this tillandsia species. Corn. Bak raises it from seed and Stofbergen Plant Company supplies the finished plants. This year they will be for the first time available.
The leaves of this plant are soft, silvery on the bottom and dark green on the upper side.
The flower is extremely durable, 6 months and longer. The flower is with its almond-shaped bracts according to Ed Stofbergen particular stylish.
