Hebe ‘Leopard Spot’ is entered by French nursery De Kervren to the new plants competition Innovert of trade fair Salon du Végétal which will be held this week (June 19-21) in Nantes (France). The nursery describes ‘Leopard Spot’ a as shrubby Veronica with mottled foliage giving it a unique and radiant appearance. “Its foliage evolves over time, with the yellow shoots turning into the mottled white foliage. Attractive purple flowers in the summer providing a contrast with the mottled foliage. Its compact, ball-shaped form makes it ideal for tubs in small spaces. Hardy to between -7 and -10 °C.”

Silver Award

In the category Shrubs and Climbers of the New Plant Awards from the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) in the UK Hebe ‘Leopard Spot’ already brought home Silver for Lowaters Nursery. The new Hebe is selected and raised at Lowaters and first launched in 2017. “This beautiful sport has a compact habit and makes a dense plant with white centres to the green leaves, it has an upright habit and strong stems. In mid to late Summer rounded pairs of pale purple flowering heads are produced at the tops of the shoots. It has a compact habit making this an excellent subject for using in either a patio container or the front of a border. No maintenance is required with this variety due to its compact nature. Best in full sun to light shade in a moist but free draining soil”, explains Lowaters.
