Pépinières Renault in France submits a new edition of Goji to the Innovert new plants competition of the trade fair Salon du Végétal which will be held June 20-22 in Nantes (F): Lycium barbarum ‘FPW03’ Princess Tao. It is covered with brilliant red berries, which are bigger than those currently on the market. This variety should also be notable for its sweet fruits with no astringency and is thus adapted to the dry fruit market as well as fresh fruit. It bears fruit from July to October, depending on the region. Another trump card which Renault mentions is its excellent mildew resistance.
This year about 30,000 Princess Tao’s will be available. Several French growers already included this new Goji in their catalog.
Princess Tao is bred by FPW-Développement, a partnership of grower Jean-Pierre Fauré, Olivier Plantin, owner of French royalty management agency Sapho and Wencai Wang, specialized in in vitro culture.
