French Dahlia breeder Ernest Turc entered Dahlia x Heroïne into the Innovert competition of the trade fair Salon du Végétal which will be held next week (June 20-22) in Nantes, France. It is described as a dwarf Dahlia which captivates with its unique single flowers. “A central raspberry heart which gives way to perfectly pink extremities on the petals. These colours, together with an exceptional floridity, make this dahlia visually appealing. The impact is all the more thanks to the size of the flowers (12 cm or more), a rarely seen size. With 4 months of continuous flowering, a festival of butterflies and bees is certain (as this plant is particularly attractive for insects), this Dahlia is a must have contemporary success.”
Last year at Concours International de Dahlias 2016 in the Parc Floral de Paris, Vincennes (France) this dahlia was already multiple awarded. At that time Heroïne had a trial number (E255). It won the 1st prize in the category Dwarf Dahlias, the press prize and ended furthermore as the Public Favorite on the 2nd place.
This year about 3,000 plants will be available, next year approximately 20,000.
