The limit values of harmful atmospheric particulate matter are regularly exceeded in Germany’s major cities. Moss walls can reduce particulate matter, states German company Helix Pflanzen/Helix Pflanzensysteme. To make the most of the potential of moss walls German specialist in building construction and civil engineering Ed. Züblin, Helix Pflanzen and the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DIFT) joined forces in the research project MoosTex. The aim is to develop a moss-based, modular wall system for particulate matter. Since November 10, 2017, the first moss walls are tested in practice on several locations in Germany.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is supporting the MoosTex project, which will run until the beginning of 2020.
