Is decrease Dutch cut flower assortment really that bad?

The fact that the Dutch cut flower assortment is becoming poorer, is a hot item. In March the campaign ‘Stop the Decrease’ was launched. May 22 the so-called Cafe Greenport Aalsmeer will provide some answers (all in Dutch) on questions as: is there really a decrease of the assortment, how bad is the situation and what are we going to do about it? Cor Fijter of Rabobank Netherlands will underscore that in the process of scaling of the Dutch floriculture adjustments in the assortment are inevitable. On behalf of the Dutch association of wholesalers in floricultural products, VGB Jan de Boer will state that the increasing role of the retail in the sales of flowers even boosts this development. According to Aad van den Enden from FloraHolland auction a broad and diversified assortment is essential for the role of the Dutch floriculture in the international trade. Bob Moria of wholesale company Waterdrinker stands up for his opinion that breeders, growers, wholesalers, florists and all other parties in the chain have to cooperate to prevent the erosion of the Dutch cut flower assortment.
