Eucalyptus gunnii France Bleu ‘Rengun’ was already described fall 2013 on newPlantsandFlowers as an introduction from French royalty management agency Sapho [see news post from September 19, 2013]. Now this ‘finally a eucalyptus for reduced spaces’ is nominated for the 2014 Innovert Award for new plants at the upcoming Salon du Végétal, which will be held next week (February 18-20) in Angers, France. Nursery Renault submitted the plant.
Renault characterize France Blue as a shrub with a compact habit with green juvenile bluish, narrow and elegant shoots; ideal for tight spaces. “France Bleu can easily be pruned, shaped and maintained. It can therefor remain at very moderate dimensions. It has evergreen, decorative and aromatic foliage.”
Renault also emphasizes that France Blue is an ideal year-round plant for pots and containers decorating balconies and terraces. It also can be planted in association with other shrubs in small gardens. It reaches unpruned a height of 3 meter.
