High distinction for Theo Ruys

Theo RuysTheo Ruys is appointed Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau, a high Dutch distinction for people who have earned special merits for the society. Last Week, Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp put the badge on a ribbon with a rosette belonging to this distinction on Ruys’ left chest. For decades this rose breeder was committed to the Dutch floriculture and served its interests nationally and internationally. He has been member of the boards of Plantum, the Dutch association for the plant reproduction material sector and of CIOPORA, the international association of breeders of vegetitavely reproduced ornamental and fruit plant varieties. Worldwide he advocated the implantation and the use of plant breeders rights.
