At the annual meeting of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society (KVBC) in Netherlands the ‘Best Novelty 2016’ was chosen. Out of all the gold medals the society awarded in 2016, three were nominated for this honorary title. Hamamelis intermedia ‘Evi’ bred by Wim van der Werff was announced best-of-the-best in 2016. The flowers of this Hamamelis are orange yellow with a reddish heart. As it flowers slightly later than other Hamamelis varieties, it extends the sales season for this species. The other two nominees were Astilbe ‘Chocolate Cherry’ (MIGHTY) [read more] and Gaultheria procumbens’SpecGP11′ (GAULTHIER PEARL) [read more].
