Herman Hamer, shareholder and advisor to the board of Florensis, died on 12 November 2017 at the age of 60. Florensis said: “He was dedicated to our company for more than 40 years. As a pioneer with great entrepreneurial spirit, Herman built up an extensive network worldwide. In recent years, Florensis has developed into a leading supplier of high-quality starting material for the ornamental horticulture sector. Herman was an extremely modest man and had great confidence in his staff.”
For decades he has been the driving force behind the company which was founded in 1941 by Jan Hamer sr. In 2000 Hamer Bloemzaden became Florensis. The company now has a proven track record worldwide as a breeder and supplier of starting material for professional growers.
President of Fleuroselect
Also, Fleuroselect, the international organization for the ornamental plants industry mourns the death of Herman. He was involved in Fleuroselect from the 80s, taking a more prominent role from 2003 when he joined the Board of Directors. From then on he has been active in almost every aspect of the organisation. In 2015 he became President of Fleuroselect.
