Hydrangea paniculata ‘Breg14’ Polestar is announced Best Novelty of the first edition of the Garden Trials and Trade fair, which is held this week (June 12-14) in Netherlands. For the novelty contest 31 plants were submitted. Of these, 28 were judged by a comity of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society. Polestar was bred by A.J. Bregman from Benthuizen (Netherlands) and is protected under plant breeding legislation. Dutch based royalty management agency Breederplants submitted the plant for the novelty showcase and also placed it on the market.
Maximum height of 40 cm
Polestar is described as an extremely compact and early blooming Hydrangea paniculata. “The first buds appear from the end of May and bloom at the beginning of June with umbrella-like flowers. The flowers start white and turn pink during summer. The plant is extremely compact and reaches a maximum height of 40 cm in a growing season.” Polestar should be perfectly winter hardy and grows and flowers also in the shadow. “It is suitable as patio plant or as a single plant in the garden.”
