Dave Konsoer: ‘Time to talk with the consumers’

“Frankly, there are so many plants introduced each year. Go to the Pack Trials and you see probably a thousand new varieties each year. And it is common knowledge that the typical consumer visiting a garden centre barely sees the difference between a petunia and a geranium. They especially don’t know a names like Calobrachoa”, says Dave Konsoer, director of national accounts at Proven Winners on a video made by Greenhouse Grower. He calls it a kind of intimidating when for these consumers when every year so many new varieties are thrown on the market place. He explains in this video why Proven Winners instead of that builds a brand and makes sure that the customer will be successful with these branded plants and come year after year again. “Rather than have the industry introduce thousand new plants each year, it’s time to ask consumers what they want in plants”, he summarizes in the Greenhous Grower video.
