The perennial department of EHR works each year with the leading perennial suppliers in the industry to develop the selections for their ‘hot new perennials’ for the following season. To view the selections for 2018, click here.
In the 2018 Hot New Perennials guide the EHR-team is wondering what will be the next big perennial hit. “We’ve seen an explosion of new intros in Echinacea, Heuchera and Coreopsis. Which genera will be the next to see lots of exciting new intros? Only time can tell, but we suggest you look to Monarda, Phlox, Helianthus and Heliopsis varieties. Pollinators are crazy hot, and all of these are excellent at attracting bees and butterflies. And breeders are already introducing exciting new selections of them. Most of these are summer bloomers, giving retailers the chance to extend their seasons.”
