Dianthus Rockin’ Red has won the award for Best Plant Introduction Nursery Stock at the 2017 Four Oaks Trade Show (UK), claims Ball Seed in a news post at their site. However, trade magazine Horticultural Week which is also sponsor of this week held show reports that Dianthus Rockin’ Red got a High Commendation and quotes the jury: “It’s completely hardy and the vivid color really is dynamite”
Dianthus Rockin’ Red is bred by PanAmerican Seed/Kieft Seed under the helm of Linda Laughner (breeder) and Reid Snyder (product manager).
Opens door to premium product sales
PanAmerican Seed underscores that Rockin’ Red opens the door to premium product sales in perennial quart and gallon programs for mid-Spring and the Autumn decorating season. “This one delivers lots of plant for the money, and that’s sure to satisfy shoppers.” It should be winter hardy to -29 °C.
