“Not only attractiveness and personal preferences play an important role in the purchase of patio & balcony plants, but also the climate”, states Blumenmarketing Austria. “The summers are getting hotter and hotter. In more than 50 communities in 2017, it was extremely hot for over 30 days with temperatures above 30 °C.” Therefore the Austrian marketing organization published the brochure ‘Hot Flowers – Coole Pflanzen für heisse Tage’ (Cool Plants for Hot Days). The most important, heat-tolerant species which are compiled in this brochure, are Angelonia angustifolia, Begonia boliviensis, Begonia semperflorens, Chamaesyce hypericifolia, Helichrysum petiolare, Lantana Camara, Lophospermum erubuescens, Mandevilla sanderi, Mecardonia, Pelargonium zonale, Pelargonium peltatum, Portulaca grandiflora, Salvia farinacea, Sanvitalia procumbens and Scaevola aemula [pictured].
